DS, 1p., as President,17 x 14 Washington, March 3, 1831. Ornate Military commission appointing Charles H. Davis to the position of Lieutenant in The Navy. The document is illustrated with vignettes of a soaring eagle on the top portion and the lower portion is decorated with naval implements including harpoons, cannons, buoys, anchors and flags. The seal is intact and boldly displayed in the bottom center of the document. This handsome piece is counter signed by John Branch the Secretary of the Navy. Item is matted in ivory and framed in a gold. It is framed to measure 23 1/2 x 19 1/2. In excellent condition. (#PVP1118)
