Associate Justice US Supreme Court, chief justice NY Supreme court. ALS "S Nelson", 2pp., 12 mo.,
Albany, Oct 20, 1865.
Written to E W Stringham regarding a business trip to NY. Nelson expresses appreciation for the invitation to stay at
Stringhams' home but must refuse because he expects "to do a good deal of work in a short time while there, which will
make it necessary to take up my abode at the old place." He continues "We have had a long term here' another judge taking
the criminal cases and I the civil, I leave here tomorrow for the city Judge S remaining to finish the business." Boldly
penned and signed. Normal folds, otherwise very good. (#STP) |
